IRONIC SORROW:

How ironic to find yourself
Spending all your energy
Trying to capture sorrow’s essence
When it should be clear
That you’re carrying it
Just inside your soul
It’s not far at all
Is that what we call creativity
A hunt for demons screaming on our backs
Run around in circles, step back to get ahead
How many mirages lay ahead
Tired of being fooled
You choose to die of thirst instead

Why do you try, why do you try
To personify
All your Darkness
In words and notes to pass along
What’s the essence of your song?

So when you know that all lies within
Perfect opportunity to crack a grin
But still out of control you begin
Searching desperately all over again
Perhaps an unnamed, silent 8th sin
You can read the bible find no mention
You couldn’t know the horror of self-deception
Deceived into thinking all beauty lay in sorrow
And your fate was sealed
Never thinking to stand still
Chasing yourself in circles and calling it a mission
